Loko Fetish Figure with French Base
Personal fetish, possibly for a hunter, from the Landogo people (also known as Loko) of Sierra Leone. The Loko are a Mande people living in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone. Although this object came to me identified as Temne, I am applying the Loko attribution due to the figure’s similarity to another figure that was field collected among the Loko some years back by a reliable, trusted source. Both figures are clearly well used and moderately old, with traces of worn European paint still apparent. $600
