Polychromed Idoma Headdress
Ceremonial headdress mask from the Idoma people of Western Nigeria. Note the carving’s sharp chin, diamond-shaped mouth, patterned coiffure at the back of the head and blackened facial features for definition. The multi-layered, multi-textured patina indicates significant ritual use.
